The band Beta Wave was formed in 2008 by Nikos Gkionis, Aris Theodoropoulos, Stavros Tsitsopoulos and John Gialopsos. With the addition of Nikos Kontos on vocals, we started playing both covers and arrangements of popular songs of our favorite bands such as Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Saxon, Led Zeppelin and many more. After a number of live performances in Athens pubs and clubs, in 2009 we decided to record our first demo, titled Bad Luck. That demo was distributed by hand and included six songs, from which two stood out: Will to Live which was an original song and a heavy metal arrangement of Leonard Cohen s song First we Take Manhattan. In 2010 Beta Wave went on hiatus and resumed in 2014 by composing new songs. In 2015 the band s formation changed and Beta Wave welcomed Nikos Dimopoulos on vocals. With a new voice, the band decided it was time to record new songs and this time to share them openly with the audience. The style of the band remains loyal to its original sound, but at the same time clearly influenced by the new age of alternative music. With direct and solid lyrics focuses on topics such as mentality, freedom, peace, love, hatred, passions and obsessions that humans face. Balancing between classic and modern, Beta Wave strives to create music that represents all people regardless of sex, race, nationality. We believe that music knows no restrictions, no borders, no language barriers, it belongs to all of us and must remain that way. Aris is endorsed by R stick drumsticks and Cympad.
